The Bridge House

"The Bridge House" was the house of a wealthy mercant. It was common for the middleclass people to have houses that consisted out of more than one building. In this case the building consisted out of two seperated building connected by a wooden bridge. The "fronthouse" was the residence it self while the "backhouse" was mostly used for storage and running the company.

The base of the main building is 5,5 by 10,5 inch. The structure is mostly build out of basic blocks. The first row however is build out of fieldstone and is ¾ inch thick so this will stick out ¼ inch. The whole structure is built on 3mm (1/8 inch) thick foam board. The first floor is 6,5 by 11,5 inch so this level will stick out by half an inch on all sides. The second building is connected by a bridge stands 4 inch from the main building and is 5,5 by 5,5 inch. The wooden planks on the edges of the first floor of the main building breaks the sharp pattern of the structure and adds to the more medieval look I was aiming for. All floors and roof parts are supported by foam board.

Some alternative parts:

The photo on the left side shows the project spray painted in orange. I guess this is quite an alternative way to start painting a building. I’m trying out all kinds of colors, also see the "Tavern".
Within this project I used some ornamental wall tiles. These tiles are made by using small parts out of a games box in combination with the excisting Hirst Arts Blocks. This is the “Mold” I made out of this stones. I also used the alternative wooden planks from my own “Mold”.

In this project, again I used the pincers frequently, cutting up walls and breaking up roof and floor parts. I choose to use different patterns for the floors and eventually different colors as well. In the whole it end up as a soft-toned building. Finally, the broken down floors on the first floor makes this structure easy accessible for game play
