Introduction: I recently picked up sculpting again. To get the back the fine skills I started to do some small projects to regain the feeling of sculpting stone and wood structures. I also tried to sculpt some finer details. From this process came a series of small outhouses. The Deluxe Outhouse: This is the first outhouse I sculpted (check the picture on top of this page). I made a combination of brick, wood, and plaster structures. The Organic Outhouse: The day after I cut the Deluxe I sculpted the Organic Outhouse. A small structure built out of twisted wood pieces and planking. The roof is also carved as wooden shingles. I sculpted some stones at the base, to make it more interesting. The Armored Outhouse: The following day I sculpted the Armored Outhouse. This was the most difficult one, but it was also the most fun. Contrary to the previous two outhouses, this one has primarily sharp lines and flat surfaces. The challenge was to make a structure that looks like it was built out of milled stone and iron but it also has to be interesting. I decided to make the stone base out of irregularly shaped stones and the walls out of fitted iron plates. I retained strong horizontal, veritcal, and diagonal lines to keep the overall look modern. The corrugated roof effect was achieved by using a new tool that I am very pleased with. What to expect: I am not sure if any more outhouses will follow. While making these three was great fun and I do have more outhouse ideas; I am not sure when I will have time to carve them. If I do cut some more designs, I will update this page. But for now, I have made a casting form for these three and will be adding them to my "for sale" page. I guess I should paint these too...
